Takara Transformers Legends LG-EX: BLACK CONVOY

I need to take a break from the Movie toys for a bit. I feel like that’s all I’ve been talking about and these Movie the Best Toys aren’t exactly hot off the presses.  So, let’s take a look at some newer stuff.  Starting with Black Convoy.

Because he’s considered an “Ex” to the Legends line, Black Convoy comes in the special Black and White packing that Takara uses for its exclusives.  We’ve seen it before on Shouki and Go-Shuta along with several others.  I got mine, as with all of my Takara items at www.agabyss.com!

I never really watched much of the old RID cartoon.  I definitely would like to go back and re-visit, but I’ll say this, Black Convoy and the Baldigus set look absolutely spectacular together.

Of course, I do have both Laser Prime and Regular Optimus from the Titans Return Line (as well as Octane, who I need to open up) so I’ve gotten used to this mold. I like it though, it still feels solid and fun.  I do wish there were better options for weapon storage, but that’s a minor nit-pick.

The Titan Master (or Head Master seems it’s Takara) looks nice.  There’s some darker metallic paint on here that’s hard to photograph, but it’s a nice touch for sure.

The silver on the tanker is painted on.  I know that’s a major gripe with people about the Hasbro toys, that the stickers peel, but mine seem fine so I don’t pay much attention to it.  Still the paint is nice on Black Convoy and looks very clean.

As with the other two, his third mode is not the strongest. While I don’t mind it, I feel like Octane will get it done much better.

All in all, he’s a nice addition to the line, if not a bit over priced for what you get.  As with most Takara exclusives, you’re paying a lot more for paint apps that normally wouldn’t be so exuberant.

Somewhere along the line, I ended up with a LOT of Black Convoys (or Nemesis Primes…Nemesi Primes?).  Its not like I’m particularly drawn to the character, but I guess I just can’t resist that striking black with pastel blue or pink (or both!) color scheme.

Of course Toy Alliance also just announced their version of him. I have Optimus…I feel like Black Convoy would look nice on my desk too.
